PTE Academic
PTE Academic is a computer-based English language proficiency test that assesses your academic-level speaking, writing, reading and listening skills. It is designed to provide a highly accurate and unbiased evaluation of the test takers’ language abilities, making it suitable for overseas university admissions, migration purposes, and professional requirements. The test evaluates candidates’ performance based on academic and real-life situations, and the format includes a range of question types to assess different language skills. If you plan to study overseas at a foreign university and need to prove your English level proficiency, or if you are applying for a work or migration visa for Australia or New Zealand, this is the test to take.
PTE Core
Take PTE Core if you are applying for permanent residency in Canada. You can also choose PTE Core if you are applying for Canadian citizenship.
PTE Academic UKVI
PTE Academic UKVI is an approved, four-skill Secure English Language Test (SELT). It is the same test as PTE Academic, but includes a Unique Reference Number (URN) for your UK visa application.
PTE Test Format
Every PTE test runs in one sitting, in three parts, on a computer at a test centre. The parts are the same across the three tests; only the timings differ.

PTE score explained
PTE Academic gives you a score from 10–90 on the Global Scale of English, so you can measure your English skills with pinpoint accuracy. You will also see individual scores for the four communicative skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. These scores are based on your responses to all the exam tasks.
