Study Abroad Consultants in Dehradun
Study Abroad Consultants
Everything between your first question and your first day on campus
Innovative Future Steps is a study abroad consultancy and English test coaching centre in Dehradun. We take students from the first conversation about where to go, through the IELTS or PTE preparation and the application, to the visa decision — and we do all of it ourselves.
The centre has been advising students in Dehradun since 2014, first from Race Course and now from the office on Rajpur Road. There is one office and there are no branches: the counselling, the IELTS and PTE classes, the application paperwork and the visa file all happen in the same building, which is the whole reason the service is worth buying as one thing rather than four.
Choosing a country, sitting an English test, assembling an application and filing a visa are four different problems, and it is easy to solve them in ways that quietly contradict each other — the test that suits your university may not be the one your visa route accepts, and the course that fits your budget may not be the one that fits your marks. Keeping them on one file is what stops that.
The first counselling session is free. Bring your marksheets, a rough idea of your budget and whatever you have already been told elsewhere; the useful first hour is the one that tells you what is realistic, not the one that tells you what you want to hear.
- One office, no branches
- 152-A Rajpur Road, Jakhan. Everything happens here, so there is one team on your file rather than a chain of hand-offs.
- Advising students since 2014
- 12 years of intakes, applications and visa cycles — including the ones where the rules changed mid-application.
- The first session is free
- There is no charge for the first counselling session, and no obligation to come back for a second.
What we actually do
Five services, in the order you need them
A consultancy is only as useful as the part of the journey it can see. Each of these has its own page; what follows is where each one sits in the sequence, and why it comes when it does.
-
Career Counselling
Which country, which course, which university — worked out against your marks, your budget and what you want to be doing five years after you graduate. Almost every file starts here, and this is the session that costs nothing.
-
Test Preparation
IELTS, PTE, TOEFL and LanguageCert, taught in this building rather than referred out. Which test you sit is part of the counselling and not a separate decision: universities and visa routes do not all accept the same ones, and the wrong choice is expensive to undo.
-
Admission Guidance
Navigating the admission process can be complex. We simplify it for you by helping you choose the best universities overseas, crafting compelling applications, and ensuring you stand out in a competitive pool of applicants.
-
Visa Assistance
Securing a study visa is a crucial step in your journey. Our visa experts streamline the process, ensuring you have the necessary documentation and support to achieve a successful outcome of your student visa application.
-
Document Verification
Overseas colleges verify Indian financial and academic documents before they issue an offer, and we are the party that runs those checks for several of them. It means we know what a file gets queried on — which is worth a great deal on the day yours is the one being read.
Where we send students
Eight destinations, and the same questions answered for each
Our counsellors place students across these eight. Each country page answers the same set of questions for that destination — how you get in, what a year actually costs, which English test is accepted and when the intakes fall — so two countries can be compared rather than just described.

The Dehradun office
On Rajpur Road, and a direct ride from most of the city
Everything on this page happens in one building — the counselling, the classes and the paperwork. It is worth seeing before you commit to any of it, and the first session costs nothing.
-
One ride, not two
The office is on Rajpur Road itself, near Reliance Digital in Jakhan. Buses and shared autos run the length of that road all day, so most of Dehradun reaches us without changing.
-
Air-conditioned classrooms
Every classroom is fully air-conditioned. In a Doon summer that is the difference between a two-hour class and a two-hour endurance test.
-
A computer lab kept current
PTE and TOEFL iBT are sat at a screen wearing a headset, not on paper. Practice happens on the same setup, so the exam room is not the first time you meet it.

Questions students ask us first
What does a study abroad consultant actually do?
A consultant does the parts of the process that reward having done them before. Shortlisting universities that will realistically take your profile, matching the course to your background so the application is not fighting itself, getting the English test right the first time, assembling documents in the form the college expects, and preparing the visa file so it is not refused on a technicality.
What it does not do is decide for you. The shortlist, the budget and the country are yours; the job is to make sure those decisions are made with the information rather than around it.
Do you charge for study abroad consultation?
The first counselling session is free and there is no obligation to come back for a second. Beyond that, what you pay depends on what you actually need — coaching, an application, a visa file, or all three — and it is quoted before any work begins. We do not publish a single price here because the cases genuinely differ; ask on the call and you will get the figure for yours.
+91 9720510000Are you a consultant for one country, or all of them?
All eight destinations on this page, and the counselling is deliberately not tied to any of them. That matters more than it sounds: a consultancy representing a single country has an interest in your choosing it. We hold partnerships with institutions across Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the USA, and the shortlist you leave with should reflect your profile rather than ours.
Do I need to have taken IELTS or PTE before I come in?
No, and it is usually better if you have not. Which test you sit depends on where you are applying and which visa route you are on, and those are the first things the counselling settles. The classes run in the same building, so preparation can start the same week the shortlist does.
When should I start, if I want the next intake?
Earlier than most people expect — the English test, the offer letter and the visa each have to finish before the next one can start, so the sequence is longer than the sum of its parts. The full stage-by-stage timeline, counted backwards from the date you want to fly, is on our admission guidance page.
Do you only work with students from Dehradun?
No. There is one office and it is on Rajpur Road, and students travel in from across the Doon valley and the districts around it. The first session is worth doing in person if you can; after that most of the file can be handled over the phone and by email, and you would come in for document checks and the visa paperwork.
Can you guarantee admission or a visa?
No, and nobody honestly can — the offer is the university's decision and the visa is the government's. What a consultant changes is the quality of what reaches them: a shortlist you are actually competitive for, an application that answers what was asked, and a document set that does not invite a query. Anyone promising you an outcome is promising something they do not control.
What should I bring to the first meeting?
Whatever you have. It is a more useful hour with your marksheets from class 10 onward, any English test result you already hold, and a realistic idea of the budget available to you — including whether that figure is savings, a loan you are hoping to raise, or a mix.
- Academic records: marksheets and certificates from class 10 onward, plus your degree transcripts if you have graduated.
- English test scores: if you have already sat IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or LanguageCert. If not, that is a conversation rather than a problem.
- A budget figure: a range is fine. It is the single fastest way to narrow eight countries down to two or three.
- Your passport: if you hold one. If you do not, applying for it is usually the first thing to start, because it gates everything downstream.
